Development of a story map (story mapping) is a technique that allows you to see a complete picture, which could not be done with a simple set of stories. That, in fact, is all - the description of the book fit into one sentence, but this is quite enough to appreciate the advantages of the method. Viewing the whole picture facilitates interaction with users, avoids the development of unnecessary functions, and also focuses on relevant user experience.
This book is not just for those who have something like "business analyst" on their badge or profile. Probably the biggest frustration for me in 10 years of implementing Agile methodology is that many programmers see stories as some kind of one-way guidance from analysts. But if you really want effective software that can be organically integrated into human activities, then the people who create the programs must be seen as a source of ideas about the possibilities, because no one knows what programmers can do as well as the programmers themselves. So these people need to have a good understanding of what their users want and interact with them to create story maps that fully address user goals.
